Chinese Box has some great music in the film so this CD is a keeper! The Chinese Box theme song which is three different tracks is exceptional. The theme song is two short tracks and the full extended eight minute track. The track below is the full theme. It may take a minute to load because its the biggest file in my collection. Black Duck - Qing Chun Zhi Ge G F C is very different from the other Black Duck CD's. This collection of songs consist of three woman and three men singers and even the music is much different. This Black Duck 25 Years Volume 5 music CD is a cool mix of soothing music and american classic songs sang in Chinese such as "Oh, Suzanna" and America's New Year celebration song. It's a little different from their mainstream style. This is a good selection of light hearted songs. Some songs seem to have a Russian influence. This CD and specific song was suggested by my good friend and it certainly is a song that will take your mind to a different place, which in this case, is remote Northern China. Very special. Chinese Blue Texture is a great folk opera collection of songs. If you can appreciate this flavor of music, this is beautiful work. You must listen to "Bird In The Sky". That is a treasure of a musical piece. It may sound silly at first but you will come to appreciate its pure innocence. 'Concubine Tears', 'Chinese Oz' and 'Chinese Puppet Opera' are also exceptional classic Chinese Opera songs. 'Chinadoll Whispers' may be the most soothing and relaxing. Memoirs Of A Geisha is a masterpiece of a soundtrack. This is the only Japanese music I have on the site but this is so exceptional, I felt it must be included. Composer John Williams won an Academy award for this amazing work of art. The full list of music awards is to long to list here. The Memoirs Of A Geisha film starring Gong Li and ZiYi Zhang also won Academy Awards. Both film and soundtrack and best selling book are one of the great pieces of work of modern cinema and for one production to have great actors and actresses and music and be nominated for 6 Academy awards and won 3 is a great accomplishment. I was compelled to list all the tracks because honestly, I have never heard a CD that was this amazing. Track 13 is the track when Gong LI (Hatsumomo) set the Geisha house (Okiya) on fire and tried to burn it to the ground. That is one of the most chilling vocals you will hear. I had not read a fiction book in 20 years and when I read the first page of Arthur Goldens 'Memoirs Of A Geisha' I was instantly addicted. After the book, I watched the film and after the film I bought the soundtrack. Once in a decade comes a trilogy of work where the book, movie and music are all spectacular and 'Memoirs Of A Geisha' was that work of art for it's decade. And of course, one of the leading actresses was the best female actress of our time, the princess of actresses, Miss Gong Li. Ming is a very talented singer. This is an excellent example of really great modern Chinese music. Her songs range from totally hip and cool to the opposite end of the spectrum producing really deep soothing ballads. I have several of her music CD's in my collection. I recommend Ming's work to everyone because it is some of the best you will hear in this category of music. 'Coming Home To China' is one of my favorite songs in my entire music collection and if your looking for some cool asian hip music, check out 'Chinese Getaway Car' and 'Chinese Hipster'. 12 GIRLS BAND Chinese language music CD.
