Beauty In The Winds may be the best Black Duck CD ever. Black Duck is an amazing group that has quietly earned a legendary place in Chinese music over the last 25 years. Three attractive woman with a sound that carries through the asian wind. Black Duck music sounds mystical with a lot of harmony sung by these three talented female performers. I personally have over a dozen Black Duck music CD's in my collection. Black Duck music is excellent and even if you have never listened to Chinese music, you will like this musical trio. The film Chinese Box has some exceptional music by Zhu Zheqin known as Dadawa. The Chinese Box theme song consist of two short tracks and the full extended eight minute track. The Very Best Of Chinese Music is an excellent mix of Chinese music. 'China Mystic' is the music we play on the Little China Store homepage. 'China Concubine' which I also have listed on the China K Mix playlist renamed 'China River' is an exceptional Chinese song. The actual name of the song is named after a famous river in China but when I hear it, for some reason it always reminds me of the perils and plight of the life of a concubine so I call it 'China Concubine'. Black Duck 25 Years Volume 5 music CD is a step away from their normal work. This is a collection of American classic songs sang in Chinese such as "Oh, Suzanna" and America's New Year celebration song. It's different from their mainstream style. This is a selection of light hearted, fun and sometimes comedic songs. This was the first Chinese music CD I bought many years ago not realizing the theme of the CD because I couldn't read Chinese calligraphy back then. So, for old times sake, I listed all the songs. Motherland China is a masterpiece collection of Opera songs. If you can appreciate this flavor of music, this is beautiful work. 'Bird In The Sky' is a treasure of a musical piece with it's pure innocence and English / Chinese translation. 'Concubine Tears' is exceptional. 'Oh Mama' and 'Chinese Puppet Opera' are also excellent classic Chinese Opera songs. 'Chinadoll Goodbye' is enchanting and may become your favorite. Memoirs Of A Geisha is a masterpiece of a soundtrack. This is the only Japanese music I have on the site but this is so exceptional, I felt it must be included. Composer John Williams won an Academy award for this amazing work of art. The full list of music awards is to long to list here. The 'Memoirs Of A Geisha' film starring Gong Li and Ziyi Zhang won 3 Academy Awards and was nominated for 6. The best selling book, film and soundtrack are one of the great pieces of work of modern artistic production. I had not read a fiction book in twenty years and one day I found Arthur Golden's book for $1 on a used bookshelf at a library. I bought the book simply because of the picture of Ziyi Zhang on the cover. One day I picked up the book and read the first page and was instantly addicted by Chiyo's thoughts and could not put the book down. It was as if I had discovered a new planet and the Geisha held a quality that I had never heard about in the history of women. After reading the book, I took a six month detour from my Chinese studies to study the Japanese Geisha in depth and own Mineko Iwasaki's 'Geisha, A Life', Stanley Burns 'A Photographic History 1872 - 1912' and 'Ukiyoe Kuzushi V2', and have read other books and watched numerous films and documentories. My conclusion is that the Japanese Geisha is one of the most impressive creations in history. When you really study the depth of their wardobe, their artistic musical abilities, dance skills, ceremonies and communication talents and the understanding of how many years it takes a Maiko to become a Geiko and then finally a Geisha, you start to understand what a special and unique talent these premier woman are in our past and present day history. The 'Flower and Willow World' is alive and well in Kyoto Japan today and approaching almost 400 years old which shows the success of this amazing creation. 'Memoirs of a Geisha' is a fictional story but certainly based on reality of its specific time era in which the film took place. 'Memoirs of a Geisha' stars the most talented actress of our time, the beautiful Gong Li as 'Hatsumomo' along with pretty Ziyi Zhang as 'Sayuri' and the shooting star Suzuka Ohgo as little 'Chiyo'. Ming is a very talented singer. This is an excellent example of really great modern Chinese music. Her songs range from totally hip and cool to the opposite end of the spectrum producing really deep soothing ballads. I have several of her music CD's in my collection. I recommend Ming's work to everyone because it is some of the best you will hear in this category of music. 'Coming Home To China' is one of my favorite songs in my entire music collection and if your looking for some cool asian hip music, check out 'Chinese Getaway Car' and 'Chinese Hipster'. Fish Leong presents her music CD 'Beautiful'. Fish is an excellent Chinese singer and her songs are a great addition to your Chinese music collection. Fish Leong was born June 16, 1978 with family roots in Shunde, Guangdong, China. Real name Jasmine Leong, a Malaysian Chinese singer in the Mandarin pop scene who has had success in Taiwan, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan.
