While the teacher is away in the city, heart-broken Di thinks she hears the teacher in the school house teaching the children. She runs frantically through the snow to the school house only to find it empty and cold and windows that have holes in the window coverings letting in the winter snow. She spends the day in the cold room and redecorates the entire room. She places yellow cray paper on the windows creating a beautiful yellow warm ambience light and red flower cut-outs are pasted on the windows. She washed the blackboard but doesn't remove his writings. She scrubs the wooden tables and chairs. Then, she sits in the cold room alone for hours because she just wants to be in his world.
